just testing

Several of the ladies in my blogroll have noticed that their Blogger sites are having formatting issues... so I decided to do a test post here to see if I get the same problem.

As for status on NT, still no RSS feed. Fahim is finishing up the first draft of his novel and then is back to working on Blog 8.4, which is supposed to have RSS along with a couple other tweaks. So hopefully soon....

[edit: yep, ive got the same weirdness going on too. Looks to me from viewing the blog itself that there's a conflict with the sidebar. Every single Blogger site I've looked at today that's doing this have been the same thing. Header looks fine, first post title looks fine, but a huge space that coincides exactly with the sidebar, and then text of the first post begins right when the sidebar ends. Almost as if there's a code demanding a certain width or something like that. And since my NT template was taken exactly from Blogger and only the tags were edited to change things like $blogcode$ to $blogcode (because of the way Fahim wrote his coding), I know it has to be something within Blogger itself. And since my April post was fine (because of course I hadn't republished till I posted today), it's something that happened recently.

Gonna try something else. Gonna save this as a draft, which takes it off publicview, and see if the April post is affected after publishing again. If it is, that tells me that Blogger made a change that globally affects everyone's templates after whatever date.

edit2: yep, April is foobed too. And I didn't make any changes to my template. So whatever Blogger did, the fact that I came in to test it out has now had me fall victim as well.

I'm SO VERY HAPPY that I decided to get away from this site....
If there's anyone else out there that's also fed up with Blogger's vagaries and would like to try out the alternative that I've got, drop me a line. The software is free, the support group is amazing (Fahim himself posts infrequently but the knowledge held by the various users that frequent the support board is astounding), and with a few tweaks, you can use your existing Blogger template so that your new blog looks the same! You do need to have your own webspace somewhere, which can even be on Geocities or wherever... doesn't have to be a customized domain name that you're paying for.

I'm moving!!!!

The Stitching Unicorn Queen has a new home....

Please update your links. I haven't figured out RSS yet, that will come eventually, and when I do, I'll post here as well for anyone subscribed through Blogrolling or Bloglines. Wish I knew who was reading here so I could email each of you to let you know privately... ah well.

I've still got a couple other things to learn with the new software as well, and I'd like to transfer all my archives from here to the new site, so it's not fully completely functional yet, but it's a good start. =)

Now I'm gettin somewhere!!

Friday evening on the train I finished the larger eyelet heart on the wedding piece. Because there were so many eyelets crammed into such a small space, I felt like I was making almost no progress at all. This morning I started on the greenery running up the left side, and in a total of 2 hours stitching time I'm almost to the upper left corner. Really helps when stuff is more spaced out LOL

Got home tonight to an envelope from Silkweavers - this month I got 28ct opalescent Jazlyn (last month was 32 opalescent, I think, I know I have another glittery piece from them) and a piece of 32ct Star Sapphire. And I know I have some pieces that specifically recommend that color. In fact, I think this was one of the colors I considered for Lady of the Flag... not that a fat quarter would have been enough, if I remember right, I ordered two halfs, one for me and one for Dianne, when we started... or rather when I started and when she got involved with drug dealing Michael.

So a good stash day, a good progress day, and soon I'm getting my butt off the computer and actually putting away my laundry LOL

It's here!

My portable Ott light has arrived!! I got the 13MAG model, dove grey casing with a 2x magnifier built in. Regular retail price at Hobby Lobby: $99.95. Ott's web price: $129.95. My price: $36.09!!!2

It's obviously still new, everything was still in factory wrapping. The hinge is a bit loose, though, as any time it's open to less than approximately 33 degrees from full upright, it slowly slides closed on its own. I remember seeing comments about this on the message boards, though, so I know there's a way to tighten the hinge a bit. I'll post there and ask for assistance later.

Happy me!

More on Home

I clocked another 7 hours yesterday. Doesn't seem like I worked that long when I look at my progress in that time, but I'm now up to stars, and working half and 3/4 stitches - and constantly checking the chart to make sure it's right - is slowing me down. Plus I spent about a half hour digging through blogs trying to find the other person working on this that had a good status picture posted in the last couple days, because suddenly I went from royal blue to funky grey-brown, and not having a color picture with the chart, I freaked. Turns out the grey-brown is a helicopter tail.

Managed to shred part of the flesh at the base of my left index finger, I think it was a hangnail that got hooked or something. Won't interfere much with stitching, but it sure makes typing a pain in the patella.

Home update

Another 2 hours tonight. I've completed the gold braid and am now on the union. not very far into it, but hey, it's only been an hour on that so far LOL.

I think I'm going to stay on this instead of switching to Spring. Mostly to get this done and out of rotation, partly because Spring is just for me and it wouldn't be done to display by the end of spring anyway, and just a little bit so I don't lose momentum. Besides, sring wasn't a set goal for the month anyhow.
